EU referendum #blogjune

If you have met me in ‘real life’, you know that I grew up in Germany and have lived, worked and studied in the UK since 2005. Now, there will be a referendum on whether the UK should remain in the UK or not. And it turns out that you cannot vote unless you have British citizenship. As I am not the only one in this position, someone has started a petition about this: Let EU citizens living in the UK vote in the EU membership referendum. Have a look and think about it.

If you need more information about the EU and how it works, ask your local Europe Direct Centre.

I think this is disgraceful and have signed the petition. I hadn’t seen it before so am glad to have come across your post. In Scotland last year, everyone living here was allowed to vote in the referendum which seems right to me. If you choose to make a county your home you should be allowed a say in how it is run.
